It’s become common knowledge that in the U.S. there are now more women enrolled in higher education than men. To be sure, the imbalance is not slight, with current college enrollment of women 1.4 times that of men.

However, women do not often select the college majors that are the most lucrative. The STEM majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) tend to be the highest paying and the most likely to land a job in your desired field, but women are highly under-represented in those areas. In the least lucrative majors though, which are mainly liberal arts fields, women are highly over-represented.
