Although the SaaS industry may not always make headlines—that is, unless one of its companies is burning millions in funding and seeing CEO turnover—VCs are quite bullish on the space, pumping billions into startups that utilize the scalable model.

Since the beginning of last year, 1,938 venture investors have participated in at least one of the 2,513 deals completed in US-based SaaS startups, according to the PitchBook Platform. This year, median capital invested sits at $6.13 million, representing a 53% increase from last year’s $4 million. California-based startups claim the largest portion of completed deals (43.6%), followed by those in New York (13.1%), Massachusetts (7.4%) and Texas (4.2%). Of the investors active in the space, 257 have completed at least two deals in the past six months.
