It seems that the rumor mill is not going to stop, until and unless Samsung officially announces anything about the company’s next flagship smartphone – the Galaxy S5. From what it looks like, the Galaxy S5 is going to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress next week – February 24th, and many people are looking forward for this event.

Release date tipped by a Samsung executive

An unnamed Samsung executive has tipped GSMArena off about the release date of the Galaxy S5. As per the tip received by GSMArena, the Galaxy S5 is said to go on sale in three weeks. This means that Samsung will have still two more weeks after the announcement to get the device ready in stores.

Previously, many rumors have suggested that the smartphone will become available within a couple of weeks after its announcement at the Mobile World Congress, just like as it has happened with Galaxy S4. In fact, O2 Germany has even created a landing page to capture details for those interested in the Galaxy S5.

Samsung still cagey about Galaxy S5 details

Samsung has succeeded in keeping the device under wraps, as until now we haven’t seen any ‘reliable’ leak suggesting the appearance of the device. Perhaps Apple could learn something from Samsung in this regard, as in the past, Apple’s devices have usually leaked in all their glory.

As far as the technical specifications of Galaxy S5, the device will be powered by a 2.5GHz Quad core processor, 3GB LPDDR3 RAM, 20MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. The device will feature a 5.25-inch QHD Super AMOLED screen, with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and 441 PPI.

Samsung is also expected to announce the Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch at the same event, but without a doubt, the Galaxy S5 will be the star of the event. The focus will be of course on the S5, but it will still be interesting to see what upgrades Samsung has made to the original Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
