Samsung Galaxy S4 To Debut In April [REPORT]

The Samsung Galaxy S phones are the only smartphones that have been in direct competition with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhones. One of the new features of the upcoming model (which will probably be dubbed Galaxy S IV) is that it will have built-in wireless charging. Unfortunately, it won’t be a built-in wireless charger like the one’s found on the Nokia Lumia 920 or Droid DNA. Instead, users will have to purchase a separate charging station and replacement cover. The new model will also supposedly feature a larger 2,600 mAh battery.

SamMobile’s report also indicated that Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) may hold an event in March to unveil the Samsung Galaxy S IV. They could also opt to unveil the new device at Mobile World Congress, which would take place in late February.

Last year, Samsung Galaxy S3 was unveiled in May.

The Samsung Galaxy S III Mini with NFC will arrive later this month in the United Kingdom. The new model should retail for about £270, which is the same price of the NFC-free version currently in the market.

The NFC-version will offer S Beam and Wi-Fi direct file transfers. The former allows users to share files with other S Beam capable devices. The sharing is direct and requires no physical connection of the devices. You can also share files without being connected on the same Wi-Fi network.

With Wi-Fi Direct and NFC capabilities, you can send larger files including videos. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) added that you can even send a 10MB audio file in two seconds.

The new Galaxy S III Mini with NFC also features a four-inch super AMOLED display, dual-core 1GHz processor, and VGA front-facing camera. At press time, there was no word on when this budget phone will be available in the United States.
