One of the 80’s best selling and most talented artist, Prince was found dead in his home today.
Prince Rogers Nelson was found deceased at is home in Paisley Park, Minnesota.
While Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud refused to comment on the identity of the body found at the estate today, TMZ and numerous other news outlets are reporting the singer dead at the age of 57.
On April 15, the artist’s private jet made an emergency landing in Illinois after the musician had an apparent medical emergency. The artist was forced to cancel two shows but assured his fans he was in fine health.
Carver County Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud confirmed a response to a medical call at 9:43 a.m. Apparently, the medical examiner and members of the crime lab are that scene but law enforcement are refusing to release the name of the deceased until proper notifications are made.
“We are not releasing any information regarding the identity of the person who died until next of kin is notified,” Kamerud said.
Hopefully, this turns out to be a horrible Internet death hoax, but it appears the stories are accurate.
Ironically, and sadly if the reports of his death are accurate, news of Prince’s death spread quickly earlier this week when a Facebook page called “R.I.P. Prince” posted the message:
“At about 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday (April 19, 2016), our beloved musician Prince passed away. Prince was born on June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
Yesterday, the musician’s reps officially confirmed that Prince is not dead. “He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet,” they said.
This latest passing cements 2016 as one of the worst years for the passing of musicians, and frankly, absolute legends.
With the passing of David Bowie, Lemmy from Motorhead and now Prince before a third of the year is over is truly staggering to lovers of music.
The pop star’s publicist, Yvette Noel-Schure, told the Associated Press that Prince was found dead at his home in suburban Minneapolis.
Across a career that spanned well over three decades, Prince released 39 albums and selling over 100 million copies.
The guitarist, pop, funk and rock icon rocked high heels like no man will ever do again an his 1984 film “Purple Rain” was one of the most influential music films ever.
There are very few that offered any competition to Michael Jackson over the course of their careers, but Prince was one of few that could make this claim. The artist was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
Over the course of his career, Prince won seven Grammy Awards after being nominated thirty times. The artist reached number one on the Billboard charts five times with an additional 14 songs reaching the top ten. Prince also won an Oscar for the original song score to the film “Purple Rain.”
