Google is gearing up to unveil its much-awaited Pixel 4 smartphone in October. The search engine giant has traditionally launched its Pixel hardware products in the first half of October. Google has shared tons of details about its upcoming flagship ahead of launch. Fresh rumors suggest that the OnePlus 7T Pro flagship would also launch in October. Will the OnePlus 7T Pro launch indeed take place around the same time as Google Pixel 4?

Twitter tipster Max J, who primarily focuses on Samsung leaks, said in a tweet that the OnePlus 7T Pro could launch on October 15. The report seems believable because OnePlus has launched the ‘T’ variants of its flagship smartphones in October or November.

The OnePlus 3T launched in November 2016. The OnePlus 5T debuted in November 2017, and the OnePlus 6T arrived in October 2018. If you are wondering what happened to OnePlus 4T, the Chinese company skipped the ‘4’ moniker altogether because the number ‘4’ is considered unlucky in China.

So, we should expect the OnePlus 7T Pro to launch in October or November this year. But it might not come on October 15 as reported by Max J. Folks at TechRadar have learned from inside sources that the next-gen ‘T’ flagship won’t launch on October 15, though they couldn’t confirm when the device would arrive.

We are expecting the Chinese company to launch a ‘T’ variant of all three models: OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, and OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. The 7 Pro has been selling like hot cakes because of its bezel-less design, pop-up selfie camera, a gorgeous display with 90Hz refresh rate, and other upgrades. The regular OnePlus 7 was a minor upgrade over OnePlus 6T while the 5G version is available only in select markets.

If the OnePlus 7T Pro launch takes place around the same time as Google Pixel 4, it could give the Google phone a tough competition, especially in Asian and European markets where OnePlus devices are particularly popular. The Google Pixel 4 would bring some cool features and a new design, but it will be more expensive than the OnePlus 7T Pro.

The Pixel 4 would feature a dual-camera setup on the back in a square camera module. The rear panel would do away with the dual-tone finish in favor of a unibody design. Google has confirmed that the Pixel 4 would get a new 3D facial recognition technology similar to Apple’s Face ID. The search engine giant is also adding a ‘Motion Sense’ technology to offer hands-free gestures. It is also rumored to bump up the RAM from 4GB on Pixel 3 to 6GB on the upcoming models.

We have seen a couple of leaked images of OnePlus 7T Pro over the last few days. As per leaks, the upcoming OnePlus flagship would retain the design elements of the existing model. You can expect the same bezel-less and notch-less display with a pop-up selfie camera mechanism. However, the rumor mill expects the OnePlus 7T Pro to offer water-resistance, which is missing from the current 7 Pro.

The 7T Pro is rumored to run Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, which is a minor upgrade over the Snapdragon 855 that runs the OnePlus 7 Pro. The Snapdragon 855 Plus has a faster clock speed and better GPU performance than its predecessor. We expect the RAM to remain the same as 7 Pro, but the company could bump up the storage to 512GB or even 1TB. A higher storage is necessary. The current models max out at 256GB storage, and there is no microSD slot for external memory.

The OnePlus 7T Pro could also see a major upgrade in the camera department. Camera testing firm DxOMark has ranked the current OnePlus 7 Pro among the world’s best smartphone cameras. It sports a triple camera system on the back.

However, the Chinese company has admitted that the OnePlus 7 Pro camera wasn’t where the company wanted it to be. OnePlus wants its cameras to take pictures with more “emotions” and “natural” colors. So, even of OnePlus 7T Pro keeps the megapixel count same as the 7 Pro, it would bring under the hood improvements to achieve OnePlus’ objective.
