Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) has one gem that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) doesn’t have: a solid mapping application. Nokia is taking this as a golden opportunity to offer their maps as an alternative.

Nokia Invites Apple iPhone 5 Users To Use Their Mobile Maps Website

As of this year, Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) has offered both iOS and Android users an application with voice-guided navigation, via the mobile internet. Nokia tooted their own horn with the following statement on Twitter, “Nokia Maps is award winning. There is no need to be stuck with another mapping service on your smartphone.”

Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) employees continued to remind unhappy iPhone users about their Maps application on their official mobile maps page. Last week, the company posted  an article that detailed the differences between the map applications on Nokia Lumia, Samsung Galaxy S III(with Google Maps), and Apple’s iPhone 5(with iOS 6 maps).

Clearly, Nokia is seizing this opportunity, and milking it for all it’s worth. Whether or not, they actually find success in getting more people to download their maps on iOS 6 will remain to be seen. For now, it looks like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will really start regrouping and formulating a plan that will save their mapping application.

It’s truly surprising that Apple lost a step in their mapping application program. For years, this has been the company that has a proven record of creating successful products and services. What’s even more surprising, is that Nokia is taking this opportunity to bring out the boxing gloves for this occasion. It’s almost like they are taking their last fighting chance while they can.

What happens with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) remains to be seen. Hopefully, Apple will learn from this huge mistake, and use it as a chance to rethink their whole mapping applications program. As for Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK), we can only hope that they will continue to capitalize on their maps and revitalize their brand. I think their latest jab against Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shows that they still got it!
