Debate about the specs of the Nexus 6 (which will probably be called the Nexus X) continues with another new photo. Spotted by Android Police, the photo supposedly shows Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s next smartphone. But is it real?
Clues from the alleged Nexus 6 / X photo
The device looks to have a similar shape to that shown in other supposedly leaked photos. The rounded curves make it look similar to the Moto X. Also the navigation buttons are the same, and an overexposed version of the phone shows what looks to be the Moto logo on the top corner.
The About screen shows that it’s running an AOSP version of Android L. There’s also a kernel made by Google that’s nearly two months newer than supposedly leaked photos that were posted over the summer.
Android Police notes that it seems unlikely that the Nexus 6 or X, supposedly codenamed Shamu, will be a Play Edition device.
Expectations for the Nexus 6
According to NDTV, Previous leaks have suggested that the Nexus X will have a huge 5.9-inch display and be much taller than the LG G3, which has a 5.5-inch display. It also looked to be thicker than the G3, which measures in at 8.9 millimeters. In addition, it is also expected to be based on the Moto X, and the recently leaked photos appear to back up this rumor.
The Nexus 6 will supposedly have a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, a 3,200 mAh battery, a rear camera with 13 megapixels that can capture 4K video recordings, and a front camera with 2 megapixels. It’s also expected to have 3 gigabytes of RAM and run on a Snapdragon 805 processor.
Although it’s still unclear when this much-anticipated device will be out, some reports have suggested recently that it will be available in the middle of October. Also it’s still a question of whether the photo these leaks are supposedly about will even be part of Google’s Nexus line.
