What pretty much every leak and rumor in the last few months has confirmed about the iPhone 7 is that it won’t have too many exciting new features. The next-gen iPhone is said to have the same design elements as the iPhone 6S. Users can expect only a few minor changes such as the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack, redesigned antennas, and a dual-lens camera setup.

New leak comes from an internal meeting at Foxconn

Apple may have a couple of exciting new features that could surprise its fans later this year. Chinese website MyDrivers (via BGR) has obtained a picture of a presentation slide that was reportedly taken during an internal meeting at Foxconn. Notably, Foxconn has already started assembling the next-gen iPhone. The slide lists some of the specs of the iPhone 7, including a 12-megapixel dual-camera setup.

The surprise element here is that the same slide lists wireless charging and IP68 water- and dust-resistance rating among the iPhone 7 specs. ValueWalk reported in January that Apple might have teamed up with Energous to bring the latter’s WattUp long-distance wireless charging technology to the iPhone 7. Last year’s iPhone 6S was water-resistant to a certain degree, but Apple never highlighted that feature. The tech giant looks ready to label the iPhone 7 as a water-resistant device.

iPhone 7 to have 32GB base storage

The slide also mentions an iOS 10 operating system and a 12MP main camera. Neither of them comes as a surprise. Separately, the Wall Street Journal reported recently that Apple will finally ditch the 16GB model and make 32GB base storage for the iPhone 7. Users have complained that 16GB is too little storage for a device that can capture 4K videos. A few other reports indicate that the tech giant may also offer a 256GB version of the upcoming iPhone.

Apple is keeping radical design changes for the next year’s iPhone 8, which is said to feature an all-glass design and OLED display. The home button and sensors will be embedded in the display itself. That’s why some experts have suggested users to wait for the iPhone 8 instead of buying the iPhone 7. But wireless charging, water-resistance and dual-camera setup may give consumers enough reason to upgrade to the iPhone 7.
