Will Apple’s next smartphone have a larger body? A recent rumor includes a set of images of the purported iPhone 6. The latest rendering reportedly comes from Apple’s main supplier Foxconn.

Possible design for iPhone 6

Renderings of the highly anticipated smartphone first surfaced on Chinese website Wei Feng, where 3D schematics show it might have been utilized for fake iPhone 6 devices featured. Tech blogger Sonny Dickson shared images of an iPhone 6 mockup complete with a curvaceous design through Twitter. Since there have been many rumors that the next iPhone would feature a curved screen, this find seemed convincing.

One of the newer images show a 5.4 inch frame with 2.6 inch width, which is comparable to the current iPhone which measures 4.87 inches in height and 2.3 inches in width.

CNET elaborated, “The latest rumors contend that Apple will bump up the diagonal for its next iPhone screen to 4.7 or 4.8 inches — from the current 4 inches. Other features seen in the images include rounded corners and a rounded LED, as well as less-rounded volume control buttons. The power button itself has switched location from the top of the phone to the side.”

The iPhone 6 could arrive sooner than expected

Apple has yet to announce iPhone 6, and it most likely won’t happen until Apple is ready to unveil the next big smartphone. Until then, fans should not take this latest rumor at face value.

The iPhone 6 is also rumored to debut a month earlier than expected. The past has shown Apple usually unveils the popular smartphone in September, just in time before the holiday shopping rush begins. This year the phone could arrive in August instead. This report claims the 4.7 version of iPhone 6 will arrive in August and a larger phone in September. It would be interesting if Apple decided to take this route with the two iPhones and release a larger phone.
