When it comes to jailbreaking an iOS device, users have many doubts. They are generally concerned about how to jailbreak, whether they will be able to successfully jailbreak the device, whether the jailbreak makes their device less secure, and most importantly, whether the jailbreak slow down their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Now there’s a new YouTube video which tries to answer the question.
Jailbreaking usually has many advantages. It liberates your iPhone from Apple’s limitations, and best of all, you can install jailbreak tweaks to customize and add more functions like never before. There are so many useful Cydia tweaks that you can install from the Cydia store that would make you wonder why didn’t you installed them before.
Compared: Two iPhone 5 devices with and without jailbreak
In this YouTube video, a comparison is done between two 16GB iPhone 5 units both running iOS 9.0.2 with identical setup. The only difference between them is that one of them is running on the stock version of Apple’s iOS 9.0.2 and the other is running on the jailbroken iOS 9.0.2 using the Pangu jailbreak.
The jailbroken iPhone is running three Cydia tweaks namely, Forcy, Live Photos Enabler, and CCSettings. As you can see in the video, the non-jailbroken iPhone boots up quickly in 38.8 seconds compared to 51.2 seconds for the jailbroken iPhone. When it comes to launching apps, there’s a slight difference there also. Apps on non-jailbroken device load up quicker than on a jailbroken device.

So we can observe that jailbreaking has a big impact on the boot time of your device. But apart from that, there’s not much noticeable difference when it comes to general usage. Apps seems to launch a bit slower, but again, it won’t make a big difference. If you want to enjoy a jailbroken device, then these small things can surely be ignored. But then it must also be taken into account that the test was conducted on an iPhone 5, so it might be a different story when it comes to the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s.
