Apple has always been loyal to its consistency and paid attention to details when crafting its operating systems, especially for the iPhone and iPad. Just two days ago, Apple released its major software update, iOS 11. While there are a lot of new and useful features to look at, many couldn’t help but notice these iOS 11 problems and issues.

In this article, we are going to take a close look at those issues and find potential solutions to the problems. One of the first to point out iOS 11 problems and issues was designer Ryan Lau. He believes that the final build of iOS 11 doesn’t seem to be loyal to its predecessors, giving Apple’s updated operating system an “unfinished feeling” compared to the consistency and dedication put into its previous operating systems.

“The unfinished feeling in iOS 11 mostly comes from UI and animation. UI elements in iOS are quite inconsistent, mixing a variety of UI elements, which might look quite similar but introduce a disconnected feeling for UX. The inconsistency of those elements majorly stems from those UI element updated in iOS 11, such as Large Title and new Search Bar. In my opinion, those newly introduced elements, which might be unfamiliar and new even to Apple engineers, have caused many inconsistent UI experience in iOS 11. “

Lau, furthermore, pointed out that the padding between titles and other UI parts is irregular and inconstant, explaining that, for example, the search bars are too close to other UI elements. That can lead to confusion and interference between different UI elements.

While Lau expressed complaints about a design-related issue, other users pointed to the following iOS 11 problems and issues that, however, can be easily fixed.

Battery dies out fast.

Whenever there is an iOS update, users notice a significant change in power consumption on their devices. After the installation of iOS 11, users again noticed that their devices run out of juice pretty fast. To solve this issue, do the following:

  1. Restart your device.
  2. Make sure to disable widgets. Swipe right when on the Home screen, find Widgets and select “Edit.” Tap the red circle with the white line, and then tap “Remove.”
  3. Activate Low Power Mode by navigating to Settings and Battery; tap “Low Power Mode” and toggle it on.
  4. You can disable the Raise to Wake function. Go into the settings, find Display & Brightness and toggle the Raise to Wake switch off.

Your device is overheating

Many iPhone and iPad users report that their device is displaying the “temperature too high” warning. This problem often occurs when they try to update their operating system, which is impossible to do if the device is overheating. Here are the tips to overcome this issue.

  1. Remove the device case.
  2. Location services often contribute to a higher temperature on a device. One of the solutions to lower the temperature is to disable the GPS unless you need it. Go to Settings and navigate to Privacy; tap “Location Services” and toggle it off.

Device can’t connect to Wi-Fi

Another consequence of upgrading to iOS 11 can be that the device is not able to connect to Wi-Fi. Whether your device automatically connects or can’t connect at all, here are quick tips for fixing this issue.

  1. If the problem isn’t on your router, you can try to reconnect to the network. Select your connection in Wi-Fi settings and make the phone forget it. Try reconnecting again or check for problems.
  2. Go to Settings and then General. Tap “Reset” and “Reset Network Settings.”
