Instagram is an amazing application which allow users to take photos, apply digital filters, and then share them on a variety of social networking services like Facebook, Twitter etc. After hitting 27 million registered users on iOS platform, Instagram – the renowned photo-sharing app is now heading towards Google’s mobile operating system – Android.
On Sunday at SXSW, Kevin Systrom the co-founder disclosed that the much-awaited Android version of Instagram will be available soon. Systrom did not discuss the features of the Android version app, he only stated that the app will be released “very soon”. He also did not give a full demo of the app, and instead just showed users a quick preview of the app running in a Galaxy Nexus.
The release date for the Instagram’s Android app was also not announced at SXSW, yet when the co-founder was asked what took so long for Instagram team to bring the app to Android platform, he answered:
“I don’t think it took us so long. We just had priorities. Had we tried to be both on Android and iPhone at the same time, it would’ve been tough to innovate in the way that we have.”
The co-founder even added some words which can make few iOS users feel a bit jealous of Instagram’s Android version app, he told the audience that:
“In some ways, it’s better than our iOS app. It’s crazy.”
