When it comes to the Android operating system, it has evolved a lot. It has now become the most customizable OS out there, and with a plethora of apps available for just about everything, you can do just about anything. However, one thing that hadn’t changed until now is the absence of the native file manager. As we know, Android didn’t have a native file manager, which meant users had to install a third-party file manager app. But now with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, things have changed.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow now includes a built-in file manager, and in this short guide, you will learn how to access it. For some reason, Google decided to bury it deep, but once you know where to access it from, things become easy. The best part is that you will now need to install one less app from the Play Store as the functionality is added natively in the OS.
Before we start, ensure that you are on a device running on Android 6.0.
How to access File Manager in Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Step 1: Launch the Settings app from the App Drawer.
Step 2: Now select Storage & USB.
Step 3: You will now be able to see Android’s internal storage details. Scroll down on this page and then tap on “Explore.”
That’s it. You will now be able to see the files and folders that are stored on your device. You can also edit, cut, copy, paste and delete files and folders from this screen.
This file manager/explorer is a welcome addition to Android. Right now it’s very simple and doesn’t include any advanced features. So if you are searching for something simple, then you don’t need to install any app but just access it using this method.
