Despite market-lagging returns, and a high correlation to the broader market at that, investors have continued to invest (or keep) their money with hedge funds. Credit Suisse shows that hedge fund assets under management in Q3 were already well above the 2012 level at over $2.4 trillion.

AUM slumped in 2008 but has increased in each of the five years since. Further, the increase has occurred in hedge funds of all investing strategies and is not specific to a particular thesis or philosophy.
