Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is reportedly looking into problems some users are reporting with loading Timelines and other content. I noticed this issue myself just a short time ago when attempting to look at a friend’s Timeline. Some pages did load, although much more slowly than usual. The issue appears to have been fixed for most users, however.

Facebook problem was widespread

The Next Web reports that the issue regarding content loading appears to have been widespread. The site noted problems from all parts of the world, although it is unknown if all users were affected by the issue. When trying to load some content, users were getting the following error message:
“Sorry, but this page didn’t load properly. Please try again.”

The Facebook News Feed did work just fine, so many users of the social network might not even have noticed a problem.

A spokesperson for Facebook told The Next Web that they were investigating the problem. We have contacted Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) to find out more about this issue and will update this story when we learn more.

More info on the Facebook problems

Folks at The Next Web did their own investigation of the problems with Facebook. Emil Protalinski noticed that after logging out of Facebook, some pages loaded just fine, although some still gave a generic error message for users who are not logged in:

“The page you requested cannot be displayed right now. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may have expired, or you may not have permission to view this page.”

Owners of Facebook Pages were able to continue using third-party tools to keep posting content on their pages.

Complaining on other social networks

Today’s Facebook glitch certainly has revealed just how much people are addicted to social media. The Los Angeles Times notes that people took to Twitter to complain about the glitch. What a shocker. It’s amazing what kind of fun quips people can come up with that fit in just 140 characters.
