While there isn’t a ton of information about the DJI Inspire 3 floating around the web, there are a number of rumors circulating about what we might be able to expect from this exciting drone release.

When the DJI Inspire 1 first launched back in November of 2014, it offered a premium drone with an excellent camera that was a great addition to the blossoming drone industry. Since that point in time, drones have become more advanced and more ubiquitous, and we’re starting to see some cutting-edge technology from these drones that make them worthy competitors – even when compared to traditional camera setups.

The Inspire 2 release back in 2016, so it’s likely we’ll see the DJI Inspire 3 sooner rather than later – perhaps as soon as later this year. Considering there was a 2 year gap between the original Inspire and its successor, it would make sense for us to see the DJI Inspire 3 within the coming months.

DJI Inspire 3 Leaks and Rumors

While we don’t have a solid handle on the release date yet, we do have a confirmation that the drone is in development due to some recent leaks of images that seem to show alleged test flights of a brand new drone. Many believe this is the DJI Inspire 3, sporting a whopping 6K RAW resolution camera.

If these specifications end up being correct, it’s likely that you won’t be able to do much better for aerial photographs than the DJI Inspire 3. It’s important to note, however, that these particular specifications are far from confirmed. Before we get official confirmation from the manufacturers themselves, any details on the DJI Inspire 3 should be considered up in the air and subject to change.

The DJI Inspire 3 images discussed above were first leaked just ahead of the Mobile World Congress held earlier this year in Barcelona. Also present at the MWC was a booth set against an imposing image of an all-black drone motor and propeller – perhaps a sneak peek of the upcoming Inspire 3.

While some were quick to dismiss the booth’s image as an artistic shot of the DJI Inspire 2, closer examination reveals that it wasn’t – representing, instead, something new.

Some main differences include a different LED design and color, a lack of motor axis tilt, and a different matte finish.

Because of these differences, many believed that the company sneakily included some images of the DJI Inspire 3 at their booth, but there was also a possibility that the device is a DJI Inspire 2 Pro version – another product that is also rumored to be in development.

Unfortunately, the pictures at MWC didn’t pan out as they ended up being images of the Matrice 200 which was launched shortly thereafter.

The fact that this information didn’t pan out was certainly frustrating, and it leaves us with a lack of information regarding the DJI Inspire 3. With that said, there are a number of features that we’d like to see included with the upcoming drone that would vastly improve the user experience.

What We’d Like To see

  • A better flying time and battery life
  • A better flight range
  • Better speed
  • Advanced aerial stability and greater maneuverability
  • Useful quality of life features such as different flight modes
  • An improved camera
  • A lighter weight for easier portability

Whether we see these suggestions implemented remains to be seen, but DJI has generally been pretty good at offering some pretty massive improvements from generation to generation. When the DJI Inspire 3 launches in the near future, we should be greeted with a host of improvements – many of which will likely include the aspects mentioned above.

The Camera

While flying the drone is definitely a fun part of the experience, the main reason customers will likely buy the DJI Inspire 3 is for access to an excellent aerial camera. As mentioned above, there are rumors floating around the web that the drone will feature a 6K RAW resolution camera. Many are also expecting that it will be a Zenmuse X7 camera which is one of the top options in camera technology available today.

This would make the drone one of the premier devices on the market and would once again establish DJI as a camera drone leader.

These rumors may turn out to be false, but if they’re true it’s an incredibly impressive step forward that will likely be incredibly expensive to implement as well. Expect to be paying a good amount for the drone once it finally releases.

As mentioned above, we don’t have a solid idea of the release date for the DJI Inspire 3, but it’s likely that it will release at some point in 2018, with 2019 being the latest we should expect a shipment.
