Asus is the latest tech company to join the smartwatch market. The company recently launched ZenWatch, a wearable works seamlessly with Android phones.

Although the official price of the wearable is still unknown, reports indicate it may retail for under $199. This watch will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1.2GHz CPU, 4GB of memory, 512MB of RAM, 1.63 inch AMOLED touch display, built-in microphone, and 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is explained the new watch will be compatible with all Android-based smartphones running on Android 4.3 or higher. It was designed to offer users an easy method to view incoming phone calls, messages, and notifications without having to actually look at the phone.

This watch also features Presentation Control and a Remote Camera. One of the more useful features is the ‘cover to mute’ feature which enables users to mute incoming calls as well as mute any alarm by placing a hand over the face of the watch.

The ZenWatch is not the only new product Asus unveiled on Wednesday. The tech company also introduced the Zenbook UX305, which is purportedly the thinnest 13.3 inch QHD+ laptop. It also unveiled the ProSieben Entertainment Pad, MeMO Pad 7 and a compact EeeBook X205. The former will be an 8-inch tablet exclusive to the German market.

A look at other Zen products

Eric Chen, vice president for Asus, praised the Zen phone range, explaining how its success reflects the company’s goal of creating an extraordinary phone to empower everyone. Chen also mentioned the ZenFone LTE phone will be available in Europe during the last quarter.

Asus’ latest move in the smartwatch market is a potentially great news for many Android users. Unlike some watch makers that make smartwatches compatible with one or a few current phone models, this watch is compatible with a variety of phones.
