Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could redesign a key accessory for the upcoming iPhone 6. A new unsourced photo surfaced last weekend depicting a redesigned charger for the iPhone 6.
A possible design change for iPhone adapter
The image, which initially appeared on Chinese tech website Sina Weibo, shows a charger that looks similar to the current Australian charging adapter. It looks a little wider than the charging adapter sold in the United States, it also has notches on either side for a better grip. At press time, there is no word on why Apple would want to change the charger design. There is a possibility Apple could increase the charger’s capacity could go beyond 5 watts, which could match the purported iPhone 6’s battery.
It is also speculated Apple will feature a new Lightening cable with a reversible USB Type-A on one side end. Thanks to an influx of similar items shown in the last few days, it is speculated Apple has a strong interest in reversible designs, the only caveat is that such a design would not be compatible with official USB specifications.
iPhone 6 rumors continue to heat up
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 6 next month and the anticipation is only heating up. A new set of leaks speculate the upcoming phone will feature a protruding camera and more detailed dimensions. According to French tech website iGen, the smaller 4.7 inch iPhone 6 is significantly larger in height than the current 4-inch model, but it has a lighter width. The larger 5.5 inch phablet actually comes in two prototypes including Proto 1 and Proto 2, the latter which is significantly heavier. It is also speculated both phones will feature protruding rear cameras, a first for Apple. This detail has been backup up by a Chinese tech site that shows the same feature on a prototype. A possible problem involved with a protruding camera, as the Nexus 5 shows, is the fact it can scratch easily. If Apple does release the iPhone 6 with a protruding camera, it will need to find a way to keep the camera from getting scratches.
