Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may delay the launch date of their purported iWatch since the company is facing manufacturing issues, DigiTimes reports. The iWatch is reportedly suffering from low yield rates thanks to the difficulty the process. DigiTimes added, “The MIM process is often used in the mass production of high-precision products with complicated industrial designs as it allows components to feature special shapes, but still maintain rigidness.”

iWatch and Toq smartwatch delays

The iWatch isn’t the only thing singled out. Qualcomm’s Toq smartwatch was also delayed for the same reason. The Toq watch is another purported wearable device that is slated to debut sometime this year. Other tech companies which are expected to debut smartwatches this year include Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V), and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT).

The rumored Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iWatch is expected to feature biometrics sensors which offer feedback on health and activity such as a pedometer or heart rate monitor. Even more reason to speculate about Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s soon release of the iWatch: the company has filed numerous patent applications which seem to pertain to such a device. The Cupertino-based tech giant also hired executives from various backgrounds including fashion, fitness, and wearable devices.

iWatch could be next step for technology

An iWatch would be the next step in mobile technology. International Business Times Australia reports, “Smartwatches are welcome additions to mobile phone accessories because it not only tells time, but it also syncs to one’s smartphone to provide users with important data without having to whip out their phones all the time. It is perfect for busy people who are on-the-go. It is also much safer because it lessens the need to show off your smartphone in a crowded place, which can be snatched or misplaced. It alerts users about incoming calls and important text messages, appointments and even monitors one’s health by recording heartbeat, blood pressure and the number of miles walked in a day. It will also be equipped with improved location sensors that will alert you whether a friend, colleague, acquaintance or loved one is nearby or has been to the place you just passed.”

The iWatch could be the next big thing for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).
