This student-friendly iMac is about $100 cheaper than the previous version and should save schools about $200 per computer. MacRumors was the first to note the new addition. Originally, Apple introduced the $999 iMac for budget-restricted schools. This new machine will be exclusively available to schools; it won’t be available to individuals through the discount program for education.

The new iMac is estimated to ship in five to seven business days.

There is no word on why Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) released another iMac for educational institutions but it’s safe to say that the Cupertino-based company wants to make the most of their market by re-releasing a new iMac for education.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is trying to climb their way back to the top and this new budget-friendly iMac for education could help them score points. The tech giant has always been involved in helping companies and organizations make the most from technology using their products or services.

The iMac is a smart alternative to the traditional desktop personal computer as  it uses OS X Mountain Lion, an advanced operating system that uses intuitive features to find, share, and organize. OS X Mountain Lion also features iCloud so users can store and access their files just about anywhere. The new iMac should prove to be a useful educational tool for students of all ages as they can use it to do research projects, watch educational videos, share information, connect with other students, and more.

It’s only a matter of time until Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) releases a specialized iPad for schools and educational centers.
