iCloud users now receive email notifications. This is all part of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s recent upgrade for iCloud which focuses primarily on security. The company’s chief executive officer Tim Cook announced the upgrade officially last week.

iCloud get key upgrade

During an interview, Cook claimed the upgrade would be launched in the next few weeks but we know now it was much sooner. The notifications are supposed to act as a warning to users who would be alerted to account infiltrations. These emails are only sent once the first time an account logs into a device. This hopefully means Apple users won’t be plagued with lots of email notifications.

This change was prompted by the recent celebrity photo scandal. There will be similar notifications sent when iCloud restores and password changes.

The iPhone maker is also expected to upgrade security with iOS 8. This means similar notifications could be sent for restores and passwords after the system rolled out. Tomorrow, Apple will unveil the iPhone 6 and iWatch, so it is a smart move on the company’s behalf to update right before the big release. iCloud is a key service for Apple users as it allows them to store important files like pictures.

Apple prepares for big event

In other Apple related news, anticipation for tomorrow’s big release is just starting to heat up. Apple fans are anticipating the official unveiling of the iPhone 6 which is rumored to be available in two sizes including a phablet-style phone. The latter of which will likely be launched later. Apple’s top competitors from Android like Samsung and HTC already dominate the market with larger smartphones.

The smartphone trend is strong and the demand for larger smartphones is growing fast. There have been numerous rumors Apple would finally cave in and launch a phablet style phone, but the company has yet to introduce such a device.
