When we stumble upon a useful website, we normally bookmark it so that we can check it out later. The outcome of this is that there comes a time when our bookmarks become crowded and then it becomes really hard to find what we’re looking for.

But if you’re on iOS 7 and using Safari, then there’s a neat way to create a home screen shortcut for a website. What this means is that Safari can create a website shortcut and then place it on the home screen so that you can launch that website with a single tap from the home screen. No longer do you need to launch Safari, open bookmarks and then launch the website. Note that this method will only work on Safari, and if you’re using any other third-party browser like Google Chrome then you won’t be able to do this.

How to add a website shortcut to iOS 7 home screen

Step 1: Launch Safari on your iOS device and navigate to the website that you want to save as a home screen shortcut.

Step 2: Once the website loads up, tap on the “Share” button. It’s an icon with a box and an arrow sticking out from it, as shown in the below screenshot.

Step 3: Tap on “Add to Home Screen” to add the website to your home screen.

Step 4: On the next page, you can fill out the name of the shortcut and the web address. Once you’re done, tap on “Add.”

That’s it. Now you can check out your home screen and you’ll find the shortcut there. In most cases, this shortcut will be the website’s favicon with the name that you’ve specified while creating the shortcut. Tap on this icon to directly open the website in Safari browser.

Say hello to a simple and quick way to launch your favorite website!
