Microsoft's Xbox 360 Beats PS3, Nintendo Wii To Become Top Console

It would seem that the Microsoft Xbox 360 has taken the crown as the best selling console in the world, beating other rivals like the PS3 and the Nintendo Wii.

Microsoft Xbox 360 is not only the best selling console in North America, it is also the best selling console in the world. The improved sales have been attributed to massive sales of Microsoft’s Kinect and better media offers for the console.

In March of this year, Microsoft sold over 371,000 Xbox units, and has a 42% share of the console market.

Sales for the accessories, hardware and software reaching  $430 million. Sales for the PS3 and the Wii in the same period were not this high even  combined.

Keen observers are of the opinion that a great selection of AAA-title games is what is making the Xbox remain relevant. Xbox currently has the top five of top ten US console games, including; Major League Baseball 2K12., Mass Effect 3, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and NBA 2K12.

Furthermore, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is also trying to make the Xbox 360, an entertainment hub for homes, and it recently added apps from HBO GO, MLB TV and Comcast that are voice controlled: this offers quick and immediate access to sports, music, and shows on TV.

Hoursspent on Xbox has been increasing by over 30% every year; people simply want to do much more than play on their consoles.

Some of the new games that can be found on the Xbox 360 include Halo 4, as well as a new Splinter Cell iteration.
