It’s amazing the incredible work that goes in to retrieving these diamonds before they arrive in your local store. They originated from kimberlite pipes and its astonishing that the last kimberlite eruption occurred over 25 million years ago. It’s fascinating seeing how our methods to reach the diamonds over the years have developed. Alluvial mining is not used as regularly these days and pipe mining is a more popular and efficient method. The differences between the two are interesting.
