Apple May Launch 7-inch iPad Mini in October For $200

We have earlier reported that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may be working on iPad mini and now many more sources are also saying the same. Apple’s iPad is a huge success and now the company wants to cash in everything that they could do by launching an affordable edition of iPad termed as iPad mini. According to iMore, this iPad mini is basically a scaled downed version of iPad. iPad mini will look exactly like the current iPad models but its screen size would be 7.85-inch with a display resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels. It wouldn’t be a surprise how Apple would achieve to fit such a resolution in this small size.

iMore has provided accurate information in the past about Apple’s products. This move will crush other tablets manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, Amazon and Asus. There are many tablets in the market based on Google’s Android platform but if iPad mini comes out with a really affordable price tag then its safe to assume the downfall of Android tablets. The pricing for iPad mini would be at a killer price tag of $200 or $250. This would pose a great threat towards other tablets in the same range.

One way for Apple to keep costs lower is to provide less storage space, for example the base or starting model may have only 8GB of storage space. However, we cannot avoid the fact that iPod Touch also starts at $200 for 8GB. This does not mean that iPod Touch’s future is dim but it only means that Apple can revise the pricing and storage capacity of iPod Touch.

For now, there is no hard evidence that Apple is planning a smaller iPad. Only time will tell if this is yet another rumor or a real news. We’ll need to wait and watch the show.
