Samsung’s Galaxy S5 has the swipe type of fingerprint sensor that requires you to swipe your finger over the Home button. It sometimes proved difficult to swipe your finger on a big phablet. However, SamMobile has learned from inside sources that the Galaxy S6 will have a non-swipe fingerprint sensor. You simply have to place your finger on the Home button at any angle and hold for a moment.

User Agent profile confirms QHD display in Galaxy S6

It will work just the way fingerprint scanner on iPhones and the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 works. Sources said that the Home button on the Galaxy S6 will be slightly bigger to accommodate the new sensor. It’s still unclear whether it will work while the display is off or not. Fingerprint sensor on the iPhones doesn’t work when the screen is off.

The publication reports that the sensor will still provide the TouchWiz functionality such as Pay with PayPal and Private Mode.  Separately, a leaked user agent profile of the Galaxy S6 confirms that the device will have a Quad HD display with 1440×2560 resolution. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge along with a round smartwatch at the Mobile World Congress in early March.

Will Galaxy S6 come sans Snapdragon?

Reports suggest that the Galaxy S6 will come in two versions, one with Exynos 7420 processor and another running Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. However, Qualcomm’s chipset is prone to overheating, and the company is still working to resolve the issue. So, Samsung is planning to launch 80% to 90% of Galaxy S6 units with Exynos processor and only 10% to 20% with Snapdragon 810. Once Qualcomm fixes the overheating problem, Samsung will gradually increase the percentage of units running Snapdragon 810.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 will be based on TSMC’s 20nm process technology, while Exynos 7420 is a 14nm processor. The Galaxy S6 is expected to have a 5.5-inch display, 3GB RAM, Android Lollipop and 20-megapixel main camera. The device is expected to hit the stores in April.
