The number of Americans receiving assistance from the Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), previously known as food stamps, decreased by 10k in July.
A total of 46.486 million people participated in the program.
The number of SNAP participants as a ratio of the total employed persons was 31.77%, down from 31.80% in June.
The average monthly benefit received per person in July was $124.24, up from $124.13.
The total cost of the SNAP program in July was $5.775 billion, up from $5.772 billion in June. The annual cost of the SNAP program (rolling 12 months) was $71.135 billion, down from $71.647 billion.
