Until now, the Pebble smartwatch has held the record for the most funded project ever on Kickstarter, but not any more. Meet Coolest Cooler, a cooler that overtook the Pebble’s funding to become the most funded project ever in the crowd-funding site’s history.
Coolest Cooler is a record breaker on Kickstarter
So just what is it about this cooler that has led it to become so popular? Well, the Coolest Cooler is a truly modern cooler that keeps your food and drinks cool, also offers blender/ice crusher for creating cocktails, wireless Bluetooth controlled speakers for listening to your favorite music, waterproof LED lights and a USB port for charging your electronic devices.
But that’s not all. The list goes on and on, also includeing a bottle opener, split lid and divider, integrated plates and cutlery holder and a fold-out component that can be used as a cutting board.
At the time of publication, more than 49,595 backers have pledged to this project, and it has raised more than $10.5 million of its $50,000 goal and there’s still 56 hours left to go. This amazingly high amount of funding has enabled this cooler to hit the No. 1 spot on Kickstarter for the most funded project ever. Two years ago, Pebble’s Kickstarter project closed with funding of $10.2 million.
If all goes well, then Coolest coolers will start shipping to backers in January 2015. Right now the lowest pledge to get yourself a cooler stands at $165, but if you live outside EU and Canada, then you will need to shell out an additional $100 for shipping. The retail price of this cooler is expected to be $299 USD.
