German carrier Deutsche Telekom AG (ADR) (OTCMKTS:DTEGY) (FRA:DTE) is preparing for the upcoming iPhone 6 launch. The company reportedly started enticing customers with a possible Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) smartphone launch in mid-September. This report comes from Apfelpage.de, a popular German-based tech website.
Apple’s launch date for iPhone 6 is still unknown
It is not very likely Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) or its carriers would have a set arrival date for the iPhone 6 just yet. This date does seem to match with Apple’s usual launch time frame which is often September. Just last year, Apple started selling both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5c on September 20th. The anticipation for the next great Apple smartphone will start heating up next week when Apple officially unveils iOS 8 during the keynote. Later in September, the iPhone will be announced and a week later the device will finally go on sale.
TouchID could be significant feature with next generation
In other Apple-related news, a recent report indicated the upcoming iPhone and iPad will feature Touch ID. Apple Insider reported that Ming-Chi Kuo believes the Cupertino-based tech giant will embed the technology into the new devices. Kuo also thinks Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will use different materials for the Touch ID module production to enhance durability. He predicts Apple will apply tin with laser wielding equipment from Japan Unix.
The tech giant will probably tap Taiwan Semicondutor Manufacturing Company for the foundry and XinTec would cover redistribution layer services. Sharp and ASE would also cover the module, while equipment for welding would be covered by Sunnic.
New smartphones and tablets with the TouchID feature are expected to help with sales. It is expected to grow from last year’s 36 million to 120 million this year and 233 million next year.
Every year, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) ups the ante with phones with interesting new features and design modifications. There’s a good chance Apple will surprise fans again with something exciting and fresh this year.
