Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) will inaugurate its first supercharger station in Hamilton; Mercer County, New Jersey, on Thursday, even though the company is facing hurdles in selling cars directly to the consumers in the state, says a report from NJ.com.  The station will be established in the parking lot of a Barnes & Noble store in Hamilton near exit 5A for I-195. This will be the 100th supercharger by Tesla globally, according to the company. The location is near exit 7A on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Fully operational supercharger station

According to Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA), the station will have six stalls and will be operational 24 hours a day. Tesla vehicles’ batteries can be almost fully charged in 20 to 30 minutes as claimed by the company. The entry level electric car from Tesla costs around $60,000, but the recharge is free of cost at the supercharger stations for the Model S owners.

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s struggle in New Jersey caught the eyes of the nation when the state’s Motor Vehicle Commission stated that the company’s direct-to-consumer sales model is against New Jersey law requiring franchise dealers. However, Tesla appealed for reconsideration on the decision saying that direct sales are allowed. The company also received a short time relief to the MVC sales ban, which expired April 15.

The Palo Alto, California, company stated that its two New Jersey retail locations in the Mall at Short Hills and Garden State Plaza in Paramus will be fully operational, but no details have been provided on the sales, whether or not it is being processed there or through the company’s headquarters.
