To celebrate April Fools’ Day, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has came out with an interesting new concept: the Pokemon Challenge, wherein you’ll need to find all the Pokemon on Google Maps.
The tech giant announced on its blog on Monday that an update for Google Maps is available for the Android and iPhone platform, and once updated, the app allows you to catch several Pokemon on the map. This new mini-game is a part of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s newly available position of Pokemon Master.

To get the job at Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), you’ll need to catch all 150 Pokemon from Google Maps. Of course, for this task, you’ll need to leave no stone unturned. Google says “Leave no stone unturned or city unzoomed as you seek out wild Charizards and Pikachus to add to your Pokédex. Be vigilant—you never know if a wild Steelix will appear in Tokyo, Japan or New York City, USA. ”
So if you’re eager to play this game, then first update the game on your iOS and Android platform, and then tap on the search bar at the top of the screen. You’ll now be able to find a small Pokemon ball with the words “Press Start.” Tap on it to start your ultimate Pokemon search.
To catch a Pokemon, you’ll simply need to tap on it. You can also check more information on the Pokemon from the Pokedex, the famous index that stores all the information related to Pokemon.
The deadline to find all 150 Pokemon is April 2, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. PDT. So if you’re trying to find all of these creatures, then be sure to do this before this deadline.
The video says that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) will invite those who find all of the Pokemon to Googleplex to participate in the final round of hiring. The winner will be starting his or her job from 1st September, 2014. Of course this is just a prank that Google’s playing with us, and is just for fun.
Google has a tradition of fooling everyone with its realistic April Fools’ joke, and the company has never disappointed us on this day. That’s a really smart play Google!
