The use of quotation marks on Android makes a tremendous amount of sense when you take into account the fact that it’s not an Android phone at all but rather a mashup of the Android 4.1 frame that Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) has painted an interface that pulls from both Asha and the Windows Phone OS. Additionally, it relies on a number of Nokia specific apps like Nokia Here for mapping and navigation.

There are numerous articles available with full tech specs for the phone including additional articles on this site, but cutting to the heart of the matter is the order of the day, and that matter is the fact that Nokia is claiming over 1 million pre-orders of the X in its very early days.

Bragging and exaggerating?

Nokia is presently bragging on its Weibo account claiming that it has already reached over 1 million pre-orders for the Nokia X just fuor days after it allowed for advance ordering. Thing is, Nokia is also exaggerating without necessarily being dishonest.

Don’t misunderstand, the phone is an interesting build given its low price tag and hybrid nature described earlier. This, however, does not truly mean that it has received that amount of pre-orders.

Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) opened the ordering up on website JD.com but in order to be counted in this million, users simply need to login to the website and click “pre-order” without having to make any financial commitment. Not a red cent, pun intended for China news.

Nokia’s “million”

In addition to this, those that log in are welcome to “pre-order” in each of the four colors that the phone is being made available. That means up to four orders per email address used on the site. Presumably, a number of people have pre-ordered with little to no intention of taking delivery of Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s new, albeit good, Frankenstein.

Given its truly odd nature and primarily positive reviews, there is no doubt that the X will be hitting the streets of China soon, but a million in four days is a stretch.
