When it comes to Android, or any other mobile operating system, changing settings is a piece of cake once you know where to look for it. Just as we don’t read the starter guide that comes with our smartphones, we don’t give attention to the Settings section, and that’s where we miss some important features of the smartphone or tablet. For example, if you’re on Android, then you can easily switch the clock to display time in 24-hour format instead of the default 12 hour format.
24-hour time preferred by many
Many people prefer viewing the time in military format (24-hour clock), where it displays time as 14:00 instead of the 2:00 PM. Vice versa, many people prefer the normal 12 hour format. Let’s take a look at how to switch between 12 and 24 hour time formats on your Android smartphone or tablet.
These instructions will help you to change time from 12 hour format to 24 hour format, and 24 hour format to 12 hour.
Find your Settings icon
As you might have guessed, you’ll need to head over to Settings, which is usually a gear shaped icon (but it might have different icon based on your manufacturer). You can also reach Settings by pulling out the notifications tray, and then tap on the small button on top-right side. Once you’re in Settings, scroll down and tap on Date & Time.
In this menu, checkmark on “Use 24-hour format” option, and you’ll see that your clock will instantly switch over to the 24 hour format without any reboot required. That’s all you need to do.
This is the same location that you’ll want to visit when you want to switch the time format from 24 hour to 12 hour. Simply remove the checkmark to switch to 12 hour clock.
