Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has rolled out a big update for its Google Search Appliance, according to The Next Web. The product is an enterprise-focused service which enables companies to run searches in all of their content.

Google reveals GSA 7.2

Version 7.0 of Google Search Appliance came out in 2012, but this new version includes some features which should make it much easier for companies to find documents, organize their data and just improve productivity overall. In addition to the search features, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has redesigned the administrative console, improved its language support and added what it calls “advanced sorting.”

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has certainly cemented its position as king of search, and it has built upon its strengths in search in these latest updates for GSA. The features are now more business-specific in nature and allow users to both test and edit the key attributes of their entities, like the author, product type and data, before Google starts indexing.

Google aims for universal searching

Since it was launched, GSA has offered the ability to make it possible to search all files from just a single box. However, the new version provides a “connector framework” that is more flexible. It essentially enables users to build their own customized connectors which are more suited to their specific needs.

In addition, users can also find what they are searching for more easily because it is no longer necessary to know the full name or title of what they are searching for. Now they just need to know part of the name in order to search for it and find it. Then they add a wildcard character like a * to run the query, and it will pull up everything which partially matches the query.

Businesses which are ready to download GSA 7.2 can just log into their Google Support Portal to download the update. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) made it available for download starting at 6 Eastern this morning.
