Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), the online retail giant has entered India’s retail space from quite some time now, but the company must compete with other well-established online stores in India. That’s why in order to entice customers in India, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has announced a guaranteed ‘one-day delivery’ service for items fulfilled by Amazon at select pin codes in cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Pune.
Amazon India ups its game in India
Customers who are located in eligible pin codes can now choose ‘One-Day Delivery’ during the time of checkout and can enjoy guaranteed next-day delivery, provided that they order the item before the cut-off time. Customers in Mumbai and Pune can place orders as late as midnight to receive items the next day; however, customers in other areas will need to place the order before the 3:00 PM cut-off time.
“Customers globally appreciate fast and reliable delivery experience. Today, we are excited to introduce the convenience and assurance of Amazon’s One-Day Guaranteed Delivery to customers in India within six months of our launch” says Amit Agarwal, Vice President and Country Manager of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) India. He adds, “We will continue to expand the service to more pin codes and cities, and extend the benefit to even more customers across India.”
Some restrictions apply
Those who want to take advantage of the one-day delivery service will need to buy an item Fulfilled by Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), and pay an extra charge of Rs 99 per order with no minimum order value. These orders are guaranteed to be delivered the next business day, excluding Sundays and public holidays. The retail giant will automatically refund shipping charges if orders are not received by the promised delivery day. Amazon also clearly states that large and heavy items do not qualify for these options.
Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) clearly states “Delivered by humans, not drones…for now.” Oh well, thanks for informing us, otherwise we would be waiting for drones outside our house!
