Ads, they’re everywhere. Even if we don’t like them and ignore them, they’re still worth millions of dollars. Advertisers happily pay companies for ads and in turn, we the users have to view them on the web, on apps, and even in games. Businesses also display ads so that they can continue the development of their product (or apps) and in turn keep the app free of charge. Many times you must have noticed some very good games and apps were offered for free, with the only catch being that you’ll have to view a small banner of ads at the bottom of the app.

However, not everyone likes viewing ads every now and then. They’re annoying, and distract us from what we’re doing. That’s where ad blocker apps for Android step in. Such apps will block advertisements from being displayed anywhere on your Android smartphone or tablet, be it the web, or apps, or even games.

Adblock plus for blocking ads

Of all the ad blocker apps, Adblock Plus is a very popular app and that’s why in this article, we’ll be focusing on only this particular app. The great thing about this app is that it works on both rooted as well as non-rooted devices.

Adblock Plus for Android runs in the background and filters ads, using the same filter lists as the Adblock Plus browser extension. The app works on Android 2.1 and higher. You’ll need to configure the app based on which version of Android you’re running.

How to use Adblock Plus

Note that you won’t be able to install this app from Google Play Store, as Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has removed every ad blocker apps from the store (and it’s not hard to guess why). That’s why you’ll need to manually download the APK file and then install it.
