The Mohamed Morsi supporters have set fire to car tires and placed barriers to halt traffic from both directions.

The loyalists to the Egypt’s former Islamist president Mohamed Morsi took out stones from the pavement and threw them at passing cars while waving his pictures and chanting slogans that demand his return to office.

The Mohamed Morsi supporters reacted to the security forces’ crackdown on their protest camps at Rabaa al-Adawiya and Nahda Square security forces on Wednesday morning.

Mohamed Morsi supporters protest in Alexandria to protest Cairo security operation

Supporters of deposed president Mohamed Mursi hit Alexandria’s streets on Wednesday morning to voice their rejection of the security operation to clear out the sit-ins at Cairo’s Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda Squares.

Pro-Muslim Brotherhood demonstrators swiftly reacted to calls from Rabaa Square to rally and protest at mosques in response to breaking up the sit-ins, the Middle East News Agency reported.

Two-hundred arrested for possessing weapons at protest camps, Egypt

The Egyptian authorities have arrested 200 people at the Mohamed Morsi supporters’ protest camps in Rabaa al-Adawiya and Nahda Squares for possessing firearms and white weapons, security sources said as quoted by the state news agency.

Fifty of those arrested at the Rabaa al-Adawiya sit-in were possessing weaponry and gas cylinders, according to the security sources.

The security forces also arrested 150 people from the Giza’s Nahda Square sit-in, all of whom belong to the Muslim Brotherhood and possessed weapons.

The sources added that the necessary legal measures are to be taken against the detainees.

State television showed footage of the weapons and ammunition found at the Rabaa al-Adawiya sit-in.

Egypt: Hundreds of Mohamed Morsi supporters hurl stones at Aswan governorate HQ

Hundreds of pro-Mursi protesters hurled stones at Aswan’s governorate headquarters on Wednesday morning in protest against the security operation in Cairo to disperse protesters at Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda sit-ins.

Around three thousand demonstrators have besieged the building and are attempting to break into it, an Aswat Masriya eyewitness said.

Security forces cordoned off the area.

If the demonstrators do not respond to negotiations, their protest will be broken up by force, Major General Hassan Abdel Hayy told Aswat Masriya.

Train movement halted across Egypt – State TV

Egypt’s train movement has been completely halted across the country, a source at Egyptian Railway Authority said on Wednesday as reported by a state-owned news channel.

Meanwhile, the security forces have begun clearing out the Mohamed Morsi’s sit-ins at Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda Squares, Egypt that were set up in support of deposed Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in Cairo on Wednesday morning.

Erian: Attack on sit-ins is an imbalanced battle with Egypt’s security forces

Senior Muslim Brotherhood leader Essam al-Erian said on Wednesday that the attack on the Rabaa al-Adawiya protest camp, set up in support of deposed Islamist President Mohamed Mursi, targeted all the entrances to their sit-in without leaving a means for exit the protesters.

Erian described the crackdown as an imbalanced battle between unarmed protesters on one side and the police and the army on the other side in Egypt.

“The criminal attack on the Rabaa al-Adawiya sit-in started nearly an hour ago. There are no statistics of the martyrs or the injured yet,” The deputy head of the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party wrote on his Facebook page.

He added, “The teargas fired by the security forces is suffocating everyone, black smoke is filling the area.”

Erian also said, “Hundreds of martyrs are falling down but our willpower stands strong and won’t be broken, so that we live freely in a free nation.”

Muslim Brotherhood: 50 dead in security operation to disperse Cairo protests

Fifty demonstrators were killed during the security operation to clear out the Muslim Brotherhood’s sit-ins at Cairo’s Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda Squares, the Brotherhood’s official website reported.

One police officer and one conscript were killed and nine others were injured in the operation, Egypt’s Ministry of Interior said.

These figures could not be immediately confirmed from an independent source.
