Apple Inc (AAPL) Next iPhone Unveiling on Sept 10th [REPORT]

Apple is expected to unveil its next iPhone at a special event on Sept 10

Well, the big news has arrived, although it remains unofficial at this time – Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to unveil the company’s next generation of iPhone on Tuesday, September 10th. The report comes from AllThingsD who has a good record of accurately reporting such event dates. Ina Fried of AllThingsD says:

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to unveil its next iPhone at a special event on Sept. 10, sources told AllThingsD.

The launch comes at an important time for Apple, which continues to make a lot of money from the iPhone but has seen its global market share dip amid a growing wave of lower-cost Android devices as well as an intense battle with archrival Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930).

So what should we expect from Apple at this event? The Cupertino company is likely going to announce a spec-bumped version of the iPhone 5, also rumored to be called iPhone 5S. This device is expected to feature a faster processor, 12-megapixel camera with dual LED flash, high screen resolution and more. A fingerprint scanner is also rumored to be included in the phone; and ‘evidence’ comes from the company’s acquisition of Authentec last year. This fingerprint scanner for sure seems to be a good security feature, but whether Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will include this feature in its next generation of iPhone needs to be seen.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is also expected to announce the low cost iPhone

Apart from the iPhone 5S, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is also expected to announce the low cost iPhone, dubbed as the iPhone 5C for the lower-end market. What’s not clear right now is whether Apple will release the low-cost iPhone at the same event or a separate event?

Naturally, any new phone from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be running on the company’s latest version of mobile operating system – the iOS 7. The OS has been testing and development ever since Apple announced it at the developer’s conference in June. Apple has already said that the iOS 7 will also work on many recent models of the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is also expected to launch the next version of Mac OS X known as Mavericks in the coming weeks, but as per AllThingsD, the OS won’t be launched at the Sept. 10 event.

The company has also been reportedly working on television and smartwatch projects, though there’s no indication when their public debut will occur.
