For the last few months, the Internet has been flooded with rumors about the features and specs of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 6. Now a noted tipster with proven track record of providing accurate details about yet-to-be-launched smartphones has revealed the Note 6’s release date. Evan Blass tweeted out that Samsung’s flagship phablet will arrive in the US in the “week of August 15.”

Note 6 to arrive before the iPhone 7

If his report is true, the Galaxy Note 6 will hit the store shelves about a month before Apple’s iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, which may help Samsung steal some customers away from the iPhone 7. Previously there were reports that the Note 6 would launch in July with Android N. Blass indicates that the phone will arrive a couple of weeks later, which looks more credible because Android N may not be available as early as July.

SamMobile reported last month that the Galaxy Note 6 may introduce an iris scanner along with water-resistance capabilities. It added that the phone will have a 5.8-inch Quad HD display with a massive 4,000mAh battery. Samsung is currently testing two models of the Note 6: one with a flat screen and another with a dual-edge display. However, only one of them will go on sale.

Galaxy Note 6 to bring a BlackBerry Hub-like app

The Note 6 is said to have a “Slim RGB” display panel that will help make some room for the bigger battery. Other rumored specifications of the device include 6GB RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, a 12-megapixel dual pixel camera, and a microSD card slot. The Galaxy Note 6 will reportedly be powered by Snapdragon 823 or an improved Exynos 8890 processor depending on the market.

The Note 6 is also tipped to feature a USB Type-C port. Rumor has it that the Korean electronics giant will bring a BlackBerry Hub-like new app called Focus as it targets the enterprise market. The company is also expected to unveil a new Gear VR headset with the Note 6.
