Apple might not yet have finalized the design elements of its next-gen smartphone, likely to be called iPhone 7. But concept designers are giving Sir Jony Ive a tough fight in imagining beautiful designs of the next year’s iPhone. The latest rendering comes from ConceptsiPhone, imagining what they call the iPhone 7 Edge. On first look, it is apparent that the designers have taken some cues from Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge.

Will Apple bring an iPhone with such advanced specs?

The curves on both sides of the display in this concept are not as obvious as in Galaxy S6 Edge. But it is curved enough to be used for some additional features on the side display. The ConceptsiPhone designers have moved the rear camera to the center, and eliminated the ugly bump. Recently, a top Apple executive revealed that the company has dedicated 800 engineers to work on the camera alone.

In terms of specs, the iPhone 7 Edge boasts of a huge 5.5-inch display with 2K resolution, an upgraded A10 chipset, 4GB RAM, and an impressive 3500mAh battery. The battery size is more than twice the size of the iPhone 6S battery. The phone features a 16-megapixel main camera and 8MP selfie camera. Apple may not create a smartphone with such advanced hardware specs. But this concept would make you feel like buying it if Apple launches a smartphone similar to the iPhone 7 Edge concept.

iPhone 7 to be the slimmest iPhone ever

Apple is reportedly going to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack to make the phone slimmer than any of its predecessors. Recently, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the iPhone 7 will be as thin as the latest iPod, measuring just 6mm to 6.5mm in thickness. The Cupertino company will allow users to plug their headphones into the Lightning port. Users will also be able to use wireless headphones via Bluetooth.

The iPhone 7 is rumored to be waterproof and dustproof. Apple has been granted several patents that it can use to make the future iPhones waterproof and dustproof. However, Ming-Chi Kuo has learned from sources that the phone will not see any major improvement in 3D Touch technology. It would be interesting to see if Apple launches an Edge variant of its next-gen flagship smartphone.
