Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is serious about dominating the smartphone market, which is why the Cupertino-based tech giant is rumored to offer three different variations with two screen sizes.

Apple may release three versions of iWatch

This report, which comes from Economic Daily, claims the iWatch will come in a 1.6 inch model and two distinct versions of the 1.8 version. One of the later versions will feature a sapphire crystal display. It is also reported the iPhone 6 will feature a sapphire screen. Because sapphire crystal is rather expensive, it might make sense to manufacture a 1.8 inch watch with sapphire screen instead of an iPhone. Some luxury watches already feature sapphire crystal displays, so it would not be surprising if Apple’s purported smartwatch had such a premium feature.

The actual report does not clarify if the sizes are the actual watch band or screen size. Economic Daily’s report actually conflicts with a report from a Reuters report that claimed Apple’s iWatch would feature a rectangular 2.5 inch screen.

If the current report from Economic Daily is true, it would be strange considering Apple does not usually offer a range of iWatch devices during the launch of a product. Its speculated Apple may offer a variety of smartwatches because of the fashion potential of the item.

Apple could start manufacturing iWatch in November

Just last week, Ming-Chi Kuo (analyst for KGI Securities) predicted the iWatch will likely feature a flexible AMOLED display with sapphire coated display, higher waterproof standards, and system on a chip components. He also said Apple would start manufacturing the device in November.

The iWatch is an exciting device with a lot of potential. There are already numerous smartwatch devices on the market, but Apple is predicted to revitalize this segment of the market much like it did with the smartphone and tablet market.
