Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. is widely expected to launch the Galaxy Note 4 in September at the annual IFA event in Berlin. According to The Korea Times, Samsung will launch two variants of its flagship phablet, one with a flat display and another with a curved OLED display. The South Korean electronics juggernaut is tight lipped about features and specs of the Galaxy Note 4.

Galaxy Note 4 to have QHD display

But rumor mill and supply chain sources have revealed that the device will feature a QHD Super AMOLED 5.7-inch display with 2560 x 1440 resolution. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) usually increases the screen size of its phablet by 0.2 inch with every new version. But the company will this time focus on the quality of images. The Galaxy Note 4 will reportedly be powered by quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB RAM.

Other reported features of the device include a 16MP main camera with ISOCELL technology, 2MP front-facing camera, 4K video recording, an S-Pen stylus support, and a Touchwhiz interface. Recent rumors suggest that Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) plans to launch a new Gear 3 alongside the Galaxy Note 4.

Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 both likely to be launched in September

The expected release date of Galaxy Note 4 is around the same time Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is widely expected to launch its powerhouse iPhone 6. The iPhone 6 will come in two sizes, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch. Apple would increase the screen size of its flagship smartphone to take on the Asian smartphone and phablet makers. The iPhone 6 is expected to feature an upgraded A8 processor, iOS 8, NFC, improved TouchID fingerprint sensor, health & fitness tracking features, scratch-proof sapphire display and wireless charging.

Notably, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to launch the highly anticipated iWatch along with the iPhone 6. With Apple and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) both set to unveil their next flagship devices in September, it would be interesting to see who wins the battle. Anyway, buyers will have exciting options to choose from.
