Galaxy Note 5 New Images Confirm Many Rumored Features

Updated on

Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 next week at the Unpacked event in New York. But it hasn’t stopped the leaks from dropping in. Earlier this week, Evan Blass leaked official press renders of the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ that will be launched on August 13. Now Droid Life has obtained real life images of the Note 5 that confirm many of the rumored features.

Galaxy Note 5 packs a smaller battery

The phablet looks like an upsized Galaxy S6 with a stylus. The device has a 5.66-inch Super AMOLED display, a metal frame and glass panels. It differs in that the Note 5 has a curved back to make it easier to hold a big-screen device. You can also see a spring-loaded S Pen stylus slot at the bottom. It’s clear that the Korean electronics giant has revamped the S Pen software to go with the S6 aesthetic. Anyway, the device looks impressive in real-life images.

Contrary to previous rumors, the images suggest that the Galaxy Note 5 will not feature a USB Type-C port. At the bottom, you could see a regular USB port, speaker and headphone jack. Sources told Droid Life that there is no microSD card slot or removable battery. The Galaxy Note 5 features 4GB RAM, and will be available in 32GB/64GB/128GB storage options. The device will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery, compared to 3,220mAh in the Galaxy Note 4.

The live images further show a new menu for Air Command feature with options for Smart select, Action memo, S Note, Settings, Screen write, and Instagram. The Instagram icon suggests that Samsung will offer greater customization.

Galaxy Note 5 appears on AnTuTu

In a separate leak, both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ were spotted on AnTuTu benchmark by Digi-wo.com. The benchmark listing shows full specifications of model number SM-N920C (Galaxy Note 5) and SM-G928F (S6 Edge+). According to the AnTuTu listing, the Note 5 features a 5.66-inch QHD display with 2560×1440 resolution, Exynos 7420 processor, and 4GB RAM.
